AAC Election Update and FAQs
An Important Message from Dr. Kate Brungard, AAC Director of Elections
The Arizona Association of Chiropractic recently adopted updated bylaws that improve the election process and provide greater continuity in leadership. Below is a quick overview of what has changed and how members will participate in the next election.
What Changed?
Two-Year Terms for Board Positions
All elected Officers and Delegates of the Board of Directors now serve two-year terms instead of one-year terms.
This change allows the Board more time to implement initiatives and maintain continuity in leadership.
Additional term guidelines include:
- Board members may serve two consecutive two-year terms in the same office.
- After two consecutive terms, a member must sit out one full two-year term before serving in that same position again.
Who Can Vote?
Only Individual Members in good standing are eligible to vote.
To vote, a member must:
- Be a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in Arizona
- Be a current AAC member in good standing
How Voting Works
Voting may take place:
- During a duly called meeting (in-person, virtual, or hybrid), or
- Through a secure written or digital ballot authorized by the Board.
Proxy voting is not permitted, ensuring that each vote is cast directly by the member.
All ballots must include:
- Member name
- Arizona chiropractic license number
This ensures accurate member verification.
Election Timeline
The bylaws establish a clear and consistent timeline:
Call for Nominations
- Sent to members 60 days before the end of the current term
Ballot Distribution
- Sent to members at least 30 days before the term ends
Voting Window
- Members have 10 days to submit ballots
Election Results
- Results announced within 7 days after ballots are validated and counted.
Next AAC Election
The next election under the revised bylaws will occur in 2027.
Members will receive nomination notices and ballots according to the timeline above.
